Battery Charger 24 V - SMPS-245 - 220 V - 5 A

The SMPS series is a family of floating chargers that was designed for use in lead-acid batteries with continuous use in generator sets and stationary engines. They keep batteries fully charged without overcharging or gassing.

Thanks to its continuous DC output, it can also be used in a wide variety of industrial applications where continuous DC power is required. When the battery voltage drops below the float charge level, the charger provides constant current, almost equal to the rated output current, allowing quick recovery of the missing charge. When the battery voltage reaches the fluctuation level, the charger switches to constant voltage charging mode and keeps the battery fully charged, providing longer battery life.

Its robust design allows it to operate in environments with adverse electromagnetic actions found in power generating sets, as well as in industrial facilities in general. The unit has overload and short circuit protection systems. This feature causes the unit to produce only the rated current during engine starting or when a short circuit condition occurs. It is not necessary to disconnect the unit when starting the equipment used. The unit's high temperature protection reduces output current in case of overheating. The unit's low weight makes it ideal for use in power generator control panels, where they often have the possibility of operating in vibration environments, as well as in the manufacture of more compact automation panels.

Thanks to its high efficiency, the self-heating of this charger is kept at minimum levels, allowing operation in hot environments. This charger is capable of operating in parallel with charging engine alternator and other battery chargers. Multiple units can be connected in parallel in order to obtain high current values. With a range of voltage and frequency, this charger is used in several countries without the need for new purchases. Rectifier fault output is provided as a standard feature. This is a semiconductor output to pull negative from the battery when the device is not in operation. Thanks to this output, a rectifier fault signal is provided to the control module that will go into the generator set. This output has already been designed to be better used in our family of “DKG”or “D” controllers in order to issue an alarm in case of failure.

The unit offers an input “impulse charge” as a standard feature. When this input is pulled to battery negative, the charger output voltage will be set to the boost charge voltage. This feature can be used temporarily to improve battery life. The charger was designed in an open metal cabinet, for better fixation using screws and/or rivets when assembling closed panels. With a connection system using terminals, it makes replacement the least complex on the market.
